 A three-month-old child in Texas died on Tuesday after he was left in a parked car at a medical facility. First responders in Houston rushed to the parking lot of an outpatient mental health clinic around 3.25pm on Tuesday afternoon. A mother had arrived at the clinic earlier that afternoon, along with her four-year-old child and three-month-old son. The mother noticed her son was unresponsive when she returned to her car. She immediately took him inside the clinic for medical care. Police are still working to determine if the car was left running or was turned off. They also have not determined if the child was left there intentionally or by accident. The child's mother and father are both cooperating with the investigation, police said. 'Houston gets very hot,' Houston Assistant Police Chief Yasar Bashir said at a press conference. 'Under no circumstances you should leave a child in the car, not even for a moment. Don't think the AC is going to work out fine or if you roll down the window that's going to be fine.' Police are still determining whether the car was left on while the child sat in the back seat (Picture: Click2Houston) According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), leaving children in hot cars puts them at risk for heat stroke and death. 'Leaving a window open is not enough,' the CDC said. 'Temperatures inside the car can rise almost 20 degrees Fahrenheit within the first 10 minutes, even with a window cracked open.' The temperature in Houston peaked at 101 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday around 2.50pm – just a half hour before police were called to the scene.
