Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, has been shot in the leg in what his supporters say was an assassination attempt.
Shots were fired today on a convoy carrying Khan, 70, in Wazirabad, eastern Pakistan, multiple local news channels reported. Up to eight people were said to have been injured by the gunfire, including Khan, who is chairman of the PTI party and a former cricket captain.
The gunman was reported to have been shot dead after the attack, in which he used an AK-47 or similar semi-automatic weapon, according to party officials.
“Imran Khan got a bullet on his right leg and he is stable and he has been shifted to hospital in Lahore,” Fawad Chaudhry, leader of the PTI, told The
