This was largely due to the fact that the Topolino can actually be driven without doors Instead, the two seats are hemmed in by a rope hooked onto what would be the doorframe at each end. The regular Topolino does come equipped with standard doors but the Dolcevita variant has this unique set-up. Alex said: "Check out this new electric vehicle from Fiat. "It doesn't look like the original Fiat 500 Topolino and the main reason is that it's got ropes instead of doors. "It doesn't look super safe, but it does look super fun." This is allowed because the Topolino is categorised as a quadricycle rather than a regular car. Quadricycles are a form of microcar with limited weight, power and speed that are subject to looser requirements than most other cars. The category was created in 1992 and allows enthusiasts to buy cheap, nippy vehicles, often with quirky features. In fact, the Dolcevita will only cost you £8,872. The model has a range of just 46 miles and can only get up to about 27mph. Its tiny battery can recharge from empty in under four hours using a standardised European plug, so no need for specialist chargers. On the ropes, Fiat's website says: "Its wicker rope gives the new Topolino a Riviera beachy charm." It is also equipped with a sunroof and vintage mirrors to add to the old-school Mediterranean ambience. Social media commenters were stunned by the little quadricycle.
