Over the past number of years I’ve come to realise that as long as there are kids in the house, September will always be a time of transition. Even if there’s no one starting school for the first time, going back after the summer break can still be daunting. They’re often nervous about going up a class, worried about meeting their new teacher or even feeling shy after not seeing some of their friends for months.
While I don’t mind things veering into the chaotic for most of the summer, I always try to keep the last week of August relatively chilled in an attempt to get everyone back on a normal sleep schedule and feeling rested before the activities and tummy bugs and nits
