Mid-life Career Swap: BBC News stalwart explains why she quit the newsroom to become a mediator
From the 2010 “hung” Parliament to the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II, broadcaster Joanna Gosling was a prominent face on BBC News for decades.
Her heartfelt farewell to the channel earlier this year went viral as she thanked viewers for allowing her to, “give a voice, lend an ear and shine a light” on their stories.
Now, the veteran broadcaster has struck out on an entirely new path, as a family mediator at law firm Irwin Mitchell, which she says means she can “be the person I wish had been there for me”.
She says the touching stories she covered during her time at the BBC inspired her to change careers, including the tale of a couple whose only daughter had died which stuck with her.
