Hood, the convener of religious activist organisation Clergy United Against the Death Penalty, says he was forced to watch as restraints squeezed Sanchez's hands so tight they cut off his circulation and his fingers turned a shade of blue, as he cried out in pain. The claims are denied by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Reverend Dr Hood told The Mirror.com: "You could see his hand turning blue, and he was like, 'I can't feel my hand.' This was the third time this year I'd seen it. I know what an execution, a lethal injection, is supposed to look like. And [that day], it did not look like what it was supposed to look like. "You could tell that there was a little bit of panic setting in. They were scared. When the execution started, he is supposed to go out right after he is done with his last words. There's not supposed to be a whole lot of gap between him finishing his last words and him going out."
