We spent £40 on Discount Dragon and tried to pick out items you would generally buy during your weekly shop, along with a few treats – so how much did we save?
Food prices have rocketed over the last year, leaving households looking for ways to save money in the supermarkets.
In March, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed food inflation had hit a 45-year high at 19.2%. Although grocery inflation has eased in recent months, it still remains painfully high at 17.3%.
One website which advertises big savings on branded foods is Discount Dragon – but how much can you actually save? Discount Dragon was launched in August 2022 and claims to offer 60% off on average compared to the supermarkets. The website also runs special 1p deals each week – although not every day – with even bigger savings.
We spent £40 and tried to pick out items you would generally buy during your weekly shop, along with a few treats. Opening up the site to start my shop, Discount Dragon is easy to navigate with clearly labelled sections to help you find what you’re looking for – for example, food, home and cleaning and even alcohol.
