‘I hate this trend of flying with your dog.’
A man has vented his outrage after a ‘service dog’ was allowed to roam freely around a busy plane. The 35-year-old, who does not like dogs, was travelling home on a two-hour flight when a 20lbs dog jumped up at him wanting attention.
Annoyed, he asked the flight attendants to ensure the animal stayed with its owner, rather than allowing it to “bother” other passengers, but they refused. Taking to Reddit, he said: “I hate this trend of flying with your dog. I don’t understand why you can’t just leave it at home.
“We take off, and as soon as we get to altitude, a dog, say 20lbs, comes walking down the aisle by itself. It’s just walking around on its own and people up and down the aisle are petting it. It is going up to people and from what I can tell positively interact with it. I get up, find a flight attendant, and ask about the dog.
“She tells me they were told it’s a service dog, nothing we can do, and also nothing they want to do this early into the flight.” After looking the dog up and down, the man started to suspect it wasn’t actually a “real service dog”, but instead a support animal or simply a pet.
