I lost my mum at 26. Now I’m helping other young people cope with grief

We’ve only been speaking for a few minutes when Rachel Wilson apologises for “babbling”. It strikes me as ironic, for a number of reasons. First because the reason I am here is to listen to her and her story, so “babbling” is perfect for me. But also because in her new book, Losing Young, she talks about how the people she spoke to regularly apologise for rambling. In the book she writes: “It’s one of the things that often stops grievers from talking openly to friends about their grief: the stories and feelings are so complex and nuanced, they take time to tell.” Yet here she is, doing the exact same thing.
