Taylor Cole was just 20 years old when she met Gentry Hatch. She was a sports journalism student, and he was on the baseball team: it seemed to be a match made in heaven. But the pair were together for almost three years when Taylor accidently got pregnant. Soon after, they decided to split, which Taylor says was 'really hard'. 'It was very acrimonious,' she says. 'We were so young, and we had different views on parenting and how we wanted to live our lives, and there was just a lot of conflict.' After their son, Beckham, was born in August 2017, the relationship became even more strained. 'I couldn't foresee a time where I would ever be friendly with him. 'We only spoke to each other unless we absolutely had to.' Beckham was four months old when Taylor met her new partner, Cameron. They married in August 2018. 'I decided to add myself, Gentry and Cameron into a group chat,' explains Taylor. 'We would all be co-parenting Beckham, so it was important everyone was in touch. 'Gentry and I communicated very badly, so Cameron often acted as a sort of mediator. He stopped me from being too reactive and helped me to be more articulate. He was also able to see Gentry's point of view in a way that I wasn't.' When Beckham was 10 months old, Gentry began dating his new partner, Madison. In 2019, the pair got engaged. 'I knew I had to meet her as she was going to be part of my child's life,' says Taylor. 'But it felt like a chore, and we didn't exactly hit it off.
