‘I gave birth at 36,000ft

Kendria Rhoden was gobsmacked when she gave birth whilst on a plane at 36,000ft, even though the doctors had given her the all-clear to fly – thankfully passengers rushed to her assitance

When you’re pregnant and have received the all-clear to fly, the last thing you expect is to give birth when you’re at 36,000ft. This is the exact situation a 21-year-old new mum found herself in though, and thankfully hero passengers fled to her side to ensure her birth was as smooth as possible.

Kendria Rhoden had to give birth to her son Skylen at the back of a plane after her waters broke mid-air at 32 weeks. She was on her way to the Dominican Republic for her mum’s birthday with her sister Kendalee Rhoden, 26, when her waters broke mid-journey.

Thanks to the help of four passengers, baby Skylen was born and he weighed a tiny 3lb 7oz as he wasn’t due until the end of October.

New mum Kendria said: “I started feeling cramps at first, right at the beginning of the flight. These carried on and 34 minutes into the flight my waters broke.
