I fled Ukraine with my disabled daughter. Waiting lists forced us back to a warzone

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

My 11-year-old daughter, Alisa, is my little princess.

She was born with severe cerebral palsy – a disability that means she can’t walk or talk – but I feel a deep connection with her. For me, it’s a joy to take care of her.

On our walks along the West Midlands canals together, I describe everything that’s around – the birds singing, the wind blowing the leaves in the trees, a dog chasing a ball, children playing – it makes her calm.

She especially loves it when we feed the birds. It makes me very happy as I’m always trying to help her enjoy her life.
