A veteran Tory MP whose constituency includes the Manston migrant centre has said he has no trust in home secretary Suella Braverman.
Roger Gale’s comments came as Ms Braverman was accused of pandering to extremists when she compared refugees’ arrival to an ‘invasion’.
The North Thanet MP told Times Radio her language ‘suggested that she is only really interested in playing to the right wing. I don’t accept or trust this home secretary’s work’.
Immigration minister Robert Jenrick distanced himself from her remarks but defended her handling of the Kent facility where 4,000 people are in a space built for 1,500.
