Hurricane Nicole made landfall in south Florida early Thursday morning before being demoted back down to a tropical storm.
The massive storm hit the continental United States around 3am close to Vero Beach, just southeast of Orlando.
After making landfall, Nicole’s wind speeds dropped to about 60 miles per hour. The storm is expected to drop up to 6 inches of water on the Sunshine State.
Storm surges of up to five feet are expected along most of Florida and Georgia’s Atlantic coast.
