Hundreds of school children have been running riot in Manchester city centre, throwing drinks and eggs at police who have tried to disperse them as they break up for the holidays
Footage shows massive hoards of school kids running through the city centre in Manchester and throwing drinks and eggs at police trying to break them up.
Tram services were forced to a crawl at one point and some have now been cancelled due to hundreds of kids around Market Street and Piccadilly Gardens where they had a stand-off with police.
Youth could be seen running in the road and throwing eggs and drinks at police officers who were attempting to disperse them. There are at least seven police vans in the city centre tackling the large crowds of kids including a Tactical Aid Unit.
Manchester Metrolink tweeted: “Due to an incident near Market Street/Piccadilly Gardens, all services are running via Exchange Square. No services will operate through Market Street or Shudehill. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to your journey.”
