How to help your puppy get through Bonfire Night

Bonfire Night might be fun for humans, but dogs tend to have other opinions.

Phoebe Hastain, from Kent says: ‘Growing up, my family dog, Fudge, was always terrified of fireworks. Every year he would be extremely anxious and have the look of fear on his face – which is horrible to watch as an owner.

‘So, when I recently started thinking about buying my own dog, there was a lot to consider. I live in a town that has regular community celebrations – especially around Halloween and Christmas – which means fireworks, bright lights and big crowds.

‘Therefore, when I recently welcomed 10-week-old jackabee, Jet, into the family, I knew I had to address this early to avoid the distress experienced by Fudge.’

It’s true that a great way to nip this fear of loud noises in the bud as much as possible is to train them as pups that loud noises like fireworks are nothing to be scared of.
