How to buy a holiday home in Montenegro

Montenegro has come a long way in a short time. The Balkan country on the Adriatic, barely bigger than North Yorkshire with a population of 620,000, only became an independent state in 2006, yet already five-star hotels and superyachts have eagerly moved in.

The prize for them all is Boka Bay, also called the Bay of Kotor. One of Europe’s most beautiful inlets, it is sheltered by steep mountains while stone villages and elite property developments cluster on the waterfront. Elegant yachts, speed boats and cruise ships heading to the Unesco world heritage town of Kotor cross the waters, for this is an A-grade boating playground.
