How Son Heung-min, James Maddison and new Tottenham attack fared without Harry Kane

BRENTFORD 2-2 TOTTENHAM: Spurs drew their first game since Harry Kane’s long-awaited transfer to Bayern Munich, a move which puts the onus on the likes of Son Heung-min and James Maddison to find the goals

Tottenham began life without Harry Kane with a trip to Brentford on Sunday, and it was up to the rest of Spurs’ attack to help fill the gaping void left by Bayern Munich’s new No.9.

But Sunday didn’t just mark a new era in the Spurs forward line, it also marked Ange Postecoglou’s first Premier League match in charge, only a day after sanctioning Kane’s long-awaited transfer which could prove to be worth more than £100million. The Aussie-Greek boss has been recruited to bring the good times back to the Lilywhite half of North London, with a focus on playing an attractive brand of football while rebuilding a connection between the players and fans.

Four men will be key to that over the next few months; Son Heung-min, James Maddison, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski. Unless Spurs make a significant signing before deadline day, that exciting but unproven quartet will tasked with scoring the almighty volume goals which their now former talisman, Kane, was so reliable in doing.

Let’s break down how each of them fared at Brentford.
