Houseplants to ‘cleanse the air’ and ‘reduce mould’ in the bathroom

Experts at Big Bathroom Shop have shared the ideal houseplants to help ‘reduce mould ‘ in the bathroom , and they’re ‘low maintenance’. 1. Cactus Rikki Fothergill, bathroom style expert at Big Bathroom Shop, said: ‘Cacti are perfect for the bathroom with their ability to survive hot, humid environments. ‘Whilst this low maintenance plant requires at least six hours of sunlight a day, they don’t require direct sunlight. ‘This means you can place them wherever you like to bring an urban feel to your bathroom as long as there is a source of natural light.’ 2. Aloe vera Unlike other plants, the placement of aloe vera plants is crucial for a long, healthy life, according to the expert. Aloe vera also releases oxygen at night which can help to purify the air and prevent mould by removing airborne toxins. 3. Ivy Rikki explained: ‘Ivy is one of the easiest houseplants to keep, especially in the bathroom. They enjoy warm, humid environments, so they are great for shower rooms. ‘They also don’t need too much sunlight and can survive well within the shade, making them ideal for those windowless bathrooms, or those with smaller windows, unlike many other houseplants. Fern When it comes to picking a fern for the bathroom, some varieties such as Boston ferns and Bird’s nests will thrive better.
