More info HBO’s record-breaking fantasy series House of the Dragon came to a jaw-dropping end on Sunday with what appeared to be the beginning of a major war. As fans eagerly await the release of season two, HBO boss Casey Bloys shared a disappointing release update. Before House of the Dragon premiered, millions of viewers were awaiting its highly anticipated debut. Many were fans of the original Game of Thrones series and were intrigued to find out more about Daenerys Targaryen’s (played by Emilia Clarke) ancestors. Others read the storyline in George RR Martin’s novels and wanted to see if the adaption would follow the book. Millions of anticipating fans tuned into the premiere and broke HBO’s viewership records which saw approximately 10 million people glued to their screens. As the show went on to tell the story of King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), many were stunned to see how the war for succession played out. As the series had a flashforward and a change of actors, the finale gave fans their first glimpse at the motivation behind the upcoming war, known as Dance of the Dragons. However, fans will be forced to sit tight for a while after HBO boss Casey Bloys revealed the wait for season two would be longer than anticipated. However, instead of being crowned Queen, the way her father intended, she was informed her half-brother and Viserys’ first-born son Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) succeeded the throne. Alongside the shock of her father’s death and news of her succession, the stress forced Rhaenyra into early labour, which led to a stillbirth. Her shock then turned into bitter anger after her middle son Lucerys Velaryon (Elliot Grihault) was killed by Aemond Targaryen’s (Ewan Mitchell) dragon Vhagar. Trending
