Horse tests positive for drug used to treat erectile dysfunction as trainer banned for a YEAR

A TRAINER has been banned for a year after one of his horses tested positive for a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction.

US trainer Haleem R Lee was also fined more than £7,500 after six-year-old gelding Satchel De Ritches was found to have tadalafil in his system.

Tadalafil is often sold under the brand name Cialis among others in the States.

However, it can also treat high blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply the lungs and this was almost certainly the reason it was in the horse’s body.

Satchel De Ritches tested positive after winning a starter allowance race at Parx racetrack in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
