The Hollyoaks actor’s mum has revealed she may need a heart transplant after going into heart failure. Polly has been open about suffering with health issues all of her life after being diagnosed with a congenital heart condition at just 18-months-old. The 57-year-old has had a series of difficulties when it comes to her health when it was discovered that she had a leaking mitral valve and narrowing of the aorta.
She was just 11-years-old when she had invasive heart surgery and was closely monitored by teams until at the age of 34 when she was admitted to hospital with heart failure after firstly suffering from a cough.
Polly is mum to Owen as well as his brothers Jake and Louie sons and they were all aged five and under when she was taken into hospital. She said: “When I was just 34 years old with my hands full with three young boys, I developed a cough and became very breathless. Eventually my symptoms became so intense that I was finally diagnosed with heart failure. Fortunately, the medications started working and I began improving. I was young and had three boys â a lot to fight for.”
