Hollie Davidson to referee World Cup final

Hollie Davidson will round off a “dream” year when she referees Saturday’s World Cup final between England and New Zealand in Auckland.

The Eden Park clash will see the 29-year-old, who grew up in West Kilbride before moving to Aboyne, become the first Scot since Jim Fleming in 1994 to take charge of the final of a global showpiece in the 15-a-side game, and caps an incredible season which has already involved refereeing the final of the sevens World Cup and becoming the first woman to oversee a match involving a men’s Six Nations team.
