Rhyl: Ariel views show seaside town in North Wales Llanelli police are trying to get to the bottom of an unusual case, after two dead horses were discovered on a local beach. One of the dead horses was headless, creating more mystery about the gruesome discovery. Detectives were called to the scene, after being alerted by a member of the public who stumbled across the horrific sight early on Saturday morning. A small section of the beach was cordoned off by officers, as they set about their work. However, the horses were not removed from the beach for four full days and their carcasses rotted in full view of the public. Avian flu has broken out in the region The beach is a popular destination for walkers and there is a cafe and restaurant close by. The failure to remove the dead horses provoked anger amongst the local community, with one person saying it was “disgusting” that the animals had not been removed, according to WalesOnline. It’s not clear how the horses died or how one of them came to be washed up on the beach without its head, but the council did confirm that both were removed on Wednesday morning. Councillor Gareth John, cabinet member for regeneration, leisure culture and tourism at Carmarthenshire Council, said: “The council has arranged for the removal of two deceased horses that were found along the Carmarthenshire coastline.” The council also warned the public not to pick up or touch any dead birds they may find on the beaches, after fears grew of a new outbreak of avian flu in the area.
