On Saturday, Erik ten Hag lined up with his preferred pairing of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez for United's 3-1 win over Lens at Old Trafford. Earlier this summer, Maguire was stripped of the United captaincy by Ten Hag, who has opted to give the armband to Bruno Fernandes ahead of the upcoming campaign. Maguire said he was 'extremely disappointed' by Ten Hag's decision but has vowed to fight for his place at United. Maguire, who started just eight Premier League games last season, has attracted interest from West Ham this summer. However, West Ham's opening bid of £20m has been rejected by United.
