‘Harry and Meghan may have ‘arranged deal’ with Netflix, claims

Meghan Markle confirmed a series was in the making after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted on several occasions with film crews in tow. Speaking about the docuseries in a recent interview with Variety magazine, Meghan said: “It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story.” However, royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti claims there may be another reason behind the deal with Netflix. As the hit show The Crown nears the present day, Mr Sacerdoti claimed Meghan and Harry could have a “sort of arranged deal” with the streaming service. The upcoming series of The Crown has been criticised for its dramatisation of real-life events, but Meghan and Harry chose to still work with the service to produce their series.Mr Sacerdoti told Express.co.uk: “I do wonder if one of the reasons that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t taken a firm stand with Netflix by refusing to make their series is it didn’t change that sort of approach towards The Crown.”I wonder if it might be some sort of arranged deal, spoken or unspoken that they have that will see them left alone in the crown if they provide their version of their story.” Meghan and Harry are set to release a docuseries with Netflix (Image: Getty) The Crown filming in Mallorca with Will Powell as Prince Harry (Image: Splash News)The Crown’s creator Peter Morgan has confirmed the series will end with season six, taking the Royal Family into the early 2000s, though it is not yet clear where exactly.Mr Sacerdoti added that Meghan and Harry will therefore be able to “complete their extra piece of the jigsaw puzzle” with their own series of events. He said: “I certainly think it would be undesirable for Meghan and Harry to have recent events described in The Crown, I know producers said they aren’t keen to go right up to the present day, but maybe that’s why they are so keen on this Netflix series, it might complete their extra piece of the jigsaw puzzle in them telling their story.”READ MORE: Meghan Markle speaks of ‘stepping out of mould that doesn’t fit’ The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from the Royal Family in 2020 (Image: Getty)The upcoming series five of The Crown will follow events throughout the 1990s, including 1992, which Queen Elizabeth famously dubbed her “annus horribilis” (horrible year). That year brought the end of three royal marriages, including the collapse of a then Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and the fire which ripped through Windsor Castle.Netflix has added a disclaimer to its marketing for The Crown, saying the show is a “fictional dramatisation”, “inspired by real-life events”.DON’T MISS: ‘Nothing to do with race’: Meghan Markle slammed for blaming reputation on ‘ethnicity’Meghan lays bare how Archie and Lilibet are raised to be ‘multidimensional and creative’Royal POLL: Is King Charles right to ditch plans for a slimmed-down monarchy?
