 A 14-year-old boy has died in hospital after he was stabbed in Manchester – with another teenager arrested on suspicion of his murder. The youngster was knifed in Tavistock Square in Harpurhey on Friday evening. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 6pm and he was taken to hospital but he could not be saved. His next of kin have been informed and police say they are being supported by family liaison officers at 'this incredibly difficult time'. Another boy, also aged 14, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by police in custody. A crime scene remains in place and Greater Manchester Police have also imposed a Section 60 authority in the area, allowing officers additional powers to stop and search people. The increased measures will remain in place until 8.26pm on Saturday. Detective Superintendent Phil Key said: 'Firstly I would like to share my deepest condolences with the family at this unbelievably difficult time. 'Our family liaison officers are currently working with them and we will continue to support the family throughout this extremely troubling period. 'A Section 60 authority has been put in place which will run for 24 hours and finish at 8.26pm this evening. 'We have taken this course of action to keep the public who live and work within the vicinity of the incident safe.
