Harlequins snatch victory from London Irish with controversial last-gasp try

A bad-tempered match was settled with a last-minute try from George Head

Alex Dombrandt’s marked his return from injury with a try as Harlequins embellished their reputation as comeback kings thanks to George Head’s dramatic winner.

Quins trailed 21-7 at one stage then 24-21 going into the final seconds after Paddy Jackson’s penalty had put Irish in front.

But hooker Head’s try from a driving line out, four minutes into added time, clinched a game of two red cards, two yellows and shining performances from the two Irish young wingers Ben Loader and Ollie Hassell-Collins.

Irish flanker Ben Donnell was sent off for a high shot on Joe Marler on 43 minutes with his side 14-0 but it was 14 men apiece again when Quins full-back Nick David was red-carded for a no arms on tackle on Irish centre Luca Morisi
