Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has the potential to finish his career as one of the club’s most prolific all-time scorers if he continues to develop on an upward trajectory, according to former Red Devils midfielder Owen Hargreaves. Rashford has endured a difficult time of things at Old Trafford over the last few years but finally appears to be getting back to his best under the watchful eye of Erik ten Hag this season. The England ace has already chipped in with six goals in all competitions for United and was on target as they cruised to a simple victory over FC Sheriff in the Europa League on Thursday evening. Hargreaves went on to wax lyrical over Rashford after the final whistle by insisting that he can become an established all-time great at United if he manages to keep performing on a consistent basis over the next few years.”His overall play and link-up play has improved over the years,” said Hargreaves in his role as a pundit on BT Sport. “Goals will come, 99 at 24 is amazing. By the time he finishes he could have 250 goals for Manchester United.”He is a quality player and has so much attacking ability to be the perfect attacker. His confidence has been hit with the addition of all these different players and he has not played all the time. He just needs to be a bit more consistent in front of goal and I think they will fly in the more he plays under Ten Hag.”JUST IN: Barcelona may spark Man Utd and Chelsea scrap as two ‘up for sale’ Owen Hargreaves was full of praise for Marcus Rashford after the final whistle on Thursday (Image: GETTY)Hargreaves’ view was echoed by fellow ex-United man Paul Scholes, who argued that Rashford could reap the rewards of improving his finishing ability in order to reach his full potential with the Red Devils over the coming years.”It’s not just the goals but it’s the appearances as well,” added Scholes. “The lad burst onto the scene when people did not really expect him to. He does get a little bit of stick for his finishing, he likes to smash the ball a lot and not so much placing it into the corners.DON’T MISSArsenal face huge Mudryk transfer fee because of Man Utd star AntonyLeeds ‘fighting’ to sign the new Mane ahead of January transfer windowFour strikers Chelsea could sign in January to challenge for the title Rashford has managed to score six goals in all competitions so far this season (Image: EXPRESS)”I think he can develop that, he is still young and only 24 years old and he would like to score more goals. He is not someone that relies on other players, he can go past a man and create a chance for himself.”Rashford has started in all but two of United’s games in the Premier League this season and looks set to play a starring role for the Red Devils as they chase a return to the division’s top four over the course of the campaign.
