Experts analysed government data from 1996 to 2022 to identify trends and make predictions, with those that saw less than three births last year deemed to be at risk. Traditional names like Walt and Carolyn were highest on the danger list, with surprising entries in the form of staples like Greg and Debra. It's not guaranteed these names will be for the scrapheap, as even the long-maligned Gary has made a comeback. What it does mean, though, is that your child is unlikely to have the same name as the rest of their class if they're called Neville or Meryl.
