Greenwich XL Bully attack sees toddler rushed to hospital and dog seized by police

Police and paramedics raced to reports of a one-year-old boy being bitten by a dog, reported to be an XL Bully, outside the Hilton hotel in Greenwich at around 10.10am on Monday

A toddler was rushed to hospital yesterday after being attacked by what is believed to be an XL Bully.

Police and paramedics raced to reports of a one-year-old boy being bitten by a dog outside the Hilton hotel in Greenwich at around 10.10am. The child was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing.

The animal, reported to be an XL Bully, was seized and its owner was charged with being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog. He is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court later today. In a statement released this morning, the Met Police said the dog was taken to kennels. However, posting earlier on Twitter, the Met taskforce said it had been put to sleep.

It wrote: “On 02/10/23 a 20-month-old boy was attacked by an XL Bully dog in the street in Greenwich. The dog was seized and has been put to sleep. The owner, a 30-year-old man has been arrested. Greenwich CID have charged him to court for allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control.”
