Former Great British Bake Off host Sandi Toksvig’s new Channel 4 series has been axed after just one season. Home improvement show, The Great Big Tiny Design Challenge, aired for just one series but has now been cancelled as Channel 4 makes saving cuts. A spokesperson from the channel explained: “Every year, Channel 4, like all broadcasters, makes decisions about which shows to rest, return or conclude to ensure we always innovate and offer viewers the best range of programming.” Speaking to The Sun, they continued: “The decision not to recommission Big Tiny Design Challenge was not financial.” Sandi’s home transformation programme saw designers take on the challenge of renovating a derelict mansion over the course of the series. Sandi’s show isn’t the only victim of axed shows on the channel, with comedian Ellie Taylor also losing her game show. You Won’t Believe This was also confirmed to have been shelved earlier in the week, with Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie having fronted the show. The series saw members of the public listening to some shocking stories from a group of “suspects” and having to work out which one was telling the truth. Talking about the game show’s axe, a spokesperson told The Sun: “The decision not to recommission You Won’t Believe This which aired in 2022 was not financial.” Sandi Toksvig: Sandi starred int he hit baking show for three years (Image: Channel 4 ) Since leaving hit competition The Great British Bake Off in 2020, Sandi has taken on several other TV prjoects. One was Extraordinary Escapes, which she later admirred to being “embarrased” over her role in the show. Speaking last year, she told The One Show viewers: “I am so embarrassed that is what I do for a living,” Sandi admitted. “It was just one of the greatest privileges of my life. I think all of us when we had the lockdown and the world seemed small and you didn’t have the opportunity to look out into the distance. “To have the chance to go, not just to some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen, but to go with fabulous women.”
