Noble Yeats won the 2022 Grand National at Aintree for Robert and Sam Waley-Cohen. The Emmet Mullins-trained chaser will try to scoop back-to-back titles next April
Sean Bowen will ride Noble Yeats on his next start â and is the front-runner to keep the ride when the Grand National hero defends his title at Aintree next April.
The seven-year-old’s owner Robert Waley-Cohen is on the lookout for a jockey to replace his son Sam, who retired from the saddle after his National triumph aboard Noble Yeats in the spring.
And Waley-Cohen, who revealed an “administrative error” has ruled the Emmet Mullins trainee out of the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury on November 26, is impressed by Bowen’s record over the National fences â Mac Tottie’s Topham Chase win last April was the 25-year-old’s third over the world-famous obstacles â and encouraged by his availability.
“That was my thinking on both counts,” said Waley-Cohen. “Short term, we’ve asked Sean Bowen. Long term, we will see how all that evolves.
