Graeme Souness hints at “power struggle” between Antonio Conte and Daniel Levy

Graeme Souness has urged Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to give Antonio Conte more of a say over transfers as speculation over the Italian’s long-term future at the club continues to linger

Graeme Souness has suggested that a power struggle could be brewing at Tottenham between boss Antonio Conte and chairman Daniel Levy.

Conte has made a significant impact in north London since succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo just shy of 12 months ago and has even managed to guide Spurs back into the Champions League.

A top-four finish led saw Conte backed in the transfer market. But even though Tottenham were one of the Premier League’s biggest spenders this year, there are still concerns over the Italian’s long-term future. Conte only penned an 18-month deal last November, meaning that, as things stand, he could walk away from the club in the summer.

It has been suggested this week that Juventus have a strong interest in Conte, but Souness believes that there could be issues ahead for Levy even if he manages to convince the Spurs boss to commit to a new deal.
