Rex Heuermann, 59, an architect, was arrested at his home in Massapequa Park. His arrest is tied to the so-called 'Gilgo Four,' the four women found wrapped in burlap in the opening days of the search in 2010. A huge police presence was seen in the area around his home. Heuermann founded architectural business RH Consultants & Associates, Inc. According to the firm's website, Heuermann's "clients include Catholic Charities, NYC-DEP Sewerage Treatment and American Airlines and other major tenants at the JFK International Airport." In an interview posted to YouTube channel Bonjour Realty, Heuermann said he was 'born and raised on Long Island.' In May of 2010, 23-year-old Shannan Gilbert mysteriously disappeared from a gated community in Long Island after calling 911 in a panic. The subsequent search for her along a desolate beach road, Gilgo Beach off Ocean Parkway, found the remains of four bodies wrapped in burlap sacks around 150m away from eachother. These bodies were identified as Melissa Barthelemy, 24, Amber Lynn Costello, 27, Megan Waterman, 22, and Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25. These women, who were later found out to have been sex workers, were dubbed the "Gilgo Beach Four." The case made national headlines with the perpetrator named by the media as the "Long Island Serial Killer" or "LISK." Over the next years, the remains of six more people were uncovered including a toddler, with the deaths tied back to this elusive killer. Different parts of the other six bodies were found at different times, often years apart. In March 2011, the partial remains of 20-year-old Jessica Taylor were found near Gilgo Beach.
