Gianni Infantino’s actions speak volumes as FIFA president leaves Women’s World Cup for Tahiti

Gianni Infantino was present in New Zealand for eight days and watching a handful of matches during the Women’s World Cup – but the man who enjoyed having his face everywhere at the men’s finals in Qatar has left already

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has left the Women’s World Cup less than week after the tournament started in Australia and New Zealand.

Infantino, 53, arrived in New Zealand on July 17 ahead of the first game of the competition between the hosts and Norway. He spent eight days in the country before leaving to return to Tahiti.

The Swiss also missed four separate matchdays during the tournament – despite attending some part of every single game at the men’s World Cup in Qatar last December. Due to the competition taking place in Australia and New Zealand, it made it impossible for Infantino to be present at every game.

However, he hasn’t attended one game in Australia so far and hasn’t even visited to the country since they were given co-host status alongside New Zealand back in 2020, according to Sky News. FIFA haven’t commented on when Infantino will be back – although he almost certainly will return before the tournament comes to a close on August 20.
