UK weather: Met Office forecasts further heatwave conditions Keeping homes cool can be tricky in the UK, with many designed to keep the cold out and the heat in, meaning some rooms may be unbearable. Deyan Dimitrov, laundry expert and CEO at Laundryheap, said: ‘This method involves hanging cold, wet towels around your home at key entry points, such as windows and doors, to cool down your home. ‘You can use freshly washed towels or any clean towel dipped in cold water. This method allows trapped water to evaporate from the surface of the towels and cool the air flowing around your house. ‘Since this hack can be fashioned out of existing household items, it’s a cheap and useful alternative for houses that don’t have access to air conditioning or fans.’ ‘Genius’ and ‘efficient’ towel hack to keep entire homes cool during UK heatwave To make this hack as ‘efficient’ as it can be, the expert shared the most important things to consider when preparing the towels. Britons should make sure to choose light-coloured towels to reduce the amount of light that they will absorb when hung in the sun, preventing them from getting too hot. It is also important to make sure the towels are washed before hanging them up to avoid filling the house with damp smells. Deyan added: ‘It’s recommended that you freshly launder your towels before trying this hack. You could even try adding a few drops of gentle essential oils to your softener compartment when washing your towels to make your home smell nice. Looking for a new home, or just fancy a look?
