Mak Tok exports traditional Malaysian cuisine to Hong Kong, the UAE and New Zealand
It was homesickness for the tastes of his childhood that prompted Will Chew to create a business around traditional Malaysian cuisine.
Yet just three years after he secured funding for his Mak Tok brand of chilli paste and sauces, via an appearance on the BBC series Dragon’s Den, Will is now ready to conquer the world.
“It’s not that long ago that Thai food was practically unknown outside the country, but today, Thai restaurants and cooking ingredients are a major force throughout the world,” he says.
“I believe the distinctive profile of authentic Malaysian cuisine puts it in the perfect position to become the next Thai for discerning foodies everywhere.”
