Freshman football star at Austin Peay State University killed in horror rollover crash

A freshman football player at Austin Peay State University has died in a horror single-car crash just outside the school campus.Jeremiah Collins, 18, was driving at speed while exiting Briley Parkway West at Clarksville when his pickup truck rolled several times before landing in a grassy area, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.

Police said there were no signs of impairment at the scene. Collins was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.University officials announced his death in a statement on Saturday morning, and said the school community was in mourning.

Head football coach Scotty Walden said: “We are all devastated and heartbroken by the loss of Jeremiah Collins.

“Jeremiah was an outstanding young man who brought an incredible attitude and energy every day. We grieve with the Collins family for their tragic loss and lift them up in prayer.”
