The Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual fly-in convention in Wisconsin was hit by two separate tragedies today, claiming the lives of four people
Four people have died in two separate crashes – one involving a helicopter and a gyrocopter, and the other a small plane – at a popular air show.
Both tragedies involved people attending the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual fly-in convention in Wisconsin on Saturday.
The first incident saw a T-6 Texan – a small, single-engined plane similar to those used in the Second World War – carrying two people crash into Lake Winnebago at about 9am. Despite the best efforts of the local sheriff’s office and fire department, both passengers passed away. The victims are believed to be in their 20s or 30s.
A few hours later, just before 12.30pm, a helicopter and a gyrocopter crashed mid-air near the Wittman Regional Airport. Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department and the Oshkosh Fire Department were quickly on the scene, however two of those on board were declared dead.
