Shocked workers at a rubbish dump in West Yorkshire found human remains yesterday.
The grim discovery at the waste recycling plant in Skelton, Leeds, came just before 10am.
Pictures from the scene suggest officers have been examining a conveyor belt at the site.
Details about the identity of the person whose remains were discovered were not immediately available and it was unclear what condition the corpse was in when it was found.
The incident left the Skelton Ltd plant shut.
