Ford’s announcement of plans to discontinue the Fiesta have been met with an outpouring of grief from devoted fans, who say the model has been a constant in their lives for many years
Motorists are in mourning over the loss of the popular Ford Fiesta model, which is set to be axed after 46 years. Ford has confirmed it will discontinue the Fiesta, which was once named the most popular car in Britain for 12 years running. The plans comes as Ford said it is “accelerating” efforts to go electric, which is good news for the environment, but has saddened many fans of the long-time classic.
Several even said the announcement marks the “end of an era”. Reacting to the news online, one devastated driver said: “Can’t quite believe the @forduk #fordfiesta is dying – has played such a massive part of my life in cars.”
A second wrote: “RIP to one of the greatest cars that everyone loves, the Ford Fiesta.” And someone else added: “The news that the @Ford Fiesta is approaching its end is incredibly disappointing and even a little upsetting. Properly the end of an era. The Fiesta was all things to all people. A capable family car, a cheap runabout, a sporting icon, a van, a first car…”
Several motorists also shared their fond memories from over the years. “The best car i ever owned MK1 Fiesta XR2,” read one such response. “I’ve had 3 in the past and they have been the most reliable cars….great little cars,” said a second.
