NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
A jury in Florida awarded a girl $800,000 in damages after she received third-degree burns from a McDonalds chicken nugget.
The court ordered the payout after a lawsuit brought by the family of Olivia Caraballo, an eight-year-old who was injured by the hot McNugget in 2019.
The sum is much smaller than the $15million payout Caraballo’s lawyers were seeking, but also higher than the $156,000 sum the fast food giant asked the jury to award.
‘I’m actually just happy that they listened to Olivia’s voice and the jury was able to decide a fair judgment,’ her mother Philana Holmes said. ‘I’m happy with that. I honestly had no expectations, so this is more than fair for me.’
