Nikki Swartz’s life turned upside down after double jaw surgery almost three years ago left her with permanent nerve damage and paralysis in her chin, lips, and teeth, which leaves her “drooling”
A woman who underwent a hotched botched double jaw surgery has said opening her mouth “feels like bungee cords are ripping my face open.”
Nikki Swartz’s life turned upside down after what was meant to be a routine surgery almost three years ago left her with permanent nerve damage and paralysis in her chin, lips, and teeth. Her lips were left unable to close, which causes food to fall out and leaves her drooling which is “embarrassing” when out in public, according to Nikki.
Following the surgery, she was left with an open and crooked bite which left her physically unable to chew and worsened her root condition, which is called Idiopathic Condylar Resorption (ICR). She has blamed her surgeon whom she trusted to fix her bite but claimed they made it worse. Nikki has been forced to eat soft foods for the last few months and still owes a staggering $101,190 following the medical bills.
After being left with horrific facial injuries, Nikki eventually found a top surgeon in Dallas, Texas, after doing extensive research and underwent surgery on August 8 to try and fix her jaws. Despite being petrified of undergoing the same operation, she realised this was her only chance of trying to rectify the problems and get her quality of life back.
