He told police that her car was parked near the trail entrance. The initial search, however, took a grim turn when Rachel was not located within her vehicle or along the trail. The Harford County Sheriff's Office revealed that a female body had been found around 1.07pm. Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said: "We firmly believe this is the body of Rachel Morin." Official identification will be carried out by the medical examiner. The circumstances surrounding Rachel's death remain unclear. Sheriff Gahler said: "Our detectives have no doubt... that it's a homicide case." The news compounds an already profound loss experienced by the Morin family. Rebekah Morin, Rachel's sister, took to Facebook to say that just a week before Rachel's disappearance, their brother and sister-in-law suffered the loss of their infant daughter to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). She said: "So our whole family has been hit with back-to-back losses. My sister had no life insurance and my mother and I will be making the arrangements and need to raise funds to do so." Rebekah shared a link for a GoFundMe to help cover any funeral expenses. The fundraiser description reads: "This was not an accidentally death, and she did not go willingly and she deserves a funeral worthy of her beauty."
