NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
While many of us are turning off our TVs rather than leaving them on standby or putting on extra jumpers rather than the heating, Rob Emery has much bigger concerns when it comes to his electricity use.
At night he needs to keep CCTV cameras and motion sensors buzzing away in the background, in case one of his sons has an epileptic seizure in his sleep. Turning them off simply isn’t an option.
Over the last few months, the family’s utility and fuel bills have gone through the roof, Rob tells Metro.co.uk. ‘At one point they were predicted to go from £198 a month to £695.’
Although they changed supplier and brought the costs down, they’re still paying double what it was.
