Louis van Gaal made a number of underwhelming signings during his two seasons in charge at Manchester United but did manage to lift the FA Cup in his final game in charge
Morgan Schneiderlin’s short stint at Manchester United might not have exactly gone down in folklore with the club’s fans, but that now looks nothing compared to his latest career blow.
After seven seasons at Southampton, the French midfielder was deemed a surprise signing by Louis van Gaal when he arrived for £25million back in 2015. A total of 47 club appearances in 18 months followed, and he did pick up an FA Cup final winners medal despite being an unused substitute.
But Jose Mourinho wasted little time in offloading Schneiderlin to Everton. Three and a half years at Goodison Park followed, before heading back home to sign for Nice in the summer of 2020.
But he fell out of favour with the Ligue 1 side last season, and was packed off to Australia for a loan spell with the West Sydney Wanderers. A move to Turkish side Konyaspor was supposed to revive the career of the 33-year-old, but that chapter is over after only NINE days.
