 ESPN baseball reporter Jeff Passan was struck by a tree while taking part in a cleanup in US's Kansas City. The 42-year-old was helping out following a storm when the unfortunate incident occurred. Even with the injury, Jeff was able to see the funny side. He wrote on Twitter 'BREAKING: My back,' with a longer description of exactly what happened. 'During cleanup after a big storm in KC, a large tree limb decided to fall and crush me,' he began. 'The good news: I still have use of my arms, legs and Twitter fingers. Liles/Atlanta Braves/Getty Images) Jeff then offered a medical update writing: 'The vertebra fracture will heal. I will be better. I'm hoping the pain subsides between now and the trade deadline, though painkiller-fueled tweets could be a fun time.' The trade deadline is August 1, and is the last point during the baseball season when players can be traded between teams so a busy time for Jeff! Finally, he thanked his co-workers, loved ones and the medical staff, and added that he still wants to receive updates on baseball. In a later tweet, he shared a photo of the tree that caused the injury. He called the tree a 'culprit' and once again showed his sense of humour by announcing plans to make a 'bat' out of the wood. Jeff was sent well-wishes following the social media update, including from his colleagues including Cassidy Hubbarth who wrote: 'So glad you're doing okay! Safe and speedy recovery to you!' 'So glad you're okay, Jeff! Wishing you a speedy recovery,' added Malika Andrews. The Kansas City Star reported winds reached 100mph last Friday, with trees and power lines knocked over as a result of the extreme weather. Got a story?
