Despite the takeover process showing no sign of a conclusion at Old Trafford, Man United manager Erik ten Hag is continuing to try and overhaul his squad this summer
Facundo Pellistri is set to sign a new Manchester United contract before being loaned out as Erik ten Hag continues his work in the summer transfer market.
Mason Mount has been signed from Chelsea in a deal worth £60 million, but other transfer targets are proving tougher to nail down. Negotiations are ongoing over a deal for Inter keeper Andre Onana, while Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund is being pursued after the club relented in their pursuit of Harry Kane.
But the Dutch boss hasn’t been afraid to let stars go in the meantime. Keeper David de Gea has left Old Trafford after his contract expired, while the future of club captain Harry Maguire is also up in the air.
Young winger Anthony Elanga is also on the brink of an exit amid interest from Everton and Nottingham Forest, and now another player billed as a future star is set to be let go – albeit temporarily. Uruguayan forward Pellistri, who played for his country in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has found game time hard to come by since joining from Penarol in 2020.
