Benjamin Pavard is a transfer target for Manchester United – who have made contact with Bayern Munich for his signature after earlier summer interest from Liverpool
Manchester United have contacted Bayern Munich to register their interest in signing Benjamin Pavard â who is open to leaving the German champions.
The France international started Bayern’s German Super Cup clash against RB Leipzig on Saturday but he could leave in the coming weeks to end his four-year stay in Munich. United boss Erik ten Hag rates Pavard’s experience and versatility â comfortable playing at right-back or in the heart of defence.
Liverpool had shortlisted Pavard for a transfer this summer but have not advanced their interest due to their priority of strengthening their midfielder. The Reds have signed Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, while they are keen to add at least one more midfielder to their ranks.
Jurgen Klopp’s side also lack depth in defence, with Northern Ireland international Conor Bradley â who spent last season on loan at Bolton â primarily the back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold. There are doubts over the long-term suitability of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip in Klopp’s backline.
